Default language version

Move the mouse over the SMS tab in the osCommerce main menu and choose Customer SMS. The default language version (mutation) of SMS will be displayed. This default language mutation will be used for notifying customers from all countries except those states with their own language mutation. We recommend paying attention to proper default language selection.
How it works?

Let`s demonstrate it via two simple examples:

1. I own an e-shop and all my customers are from one country.

In this case I can translate the default mutation into the desired language (default mutation corresponds to the language version of the module you downloaded). The SMS module will use only the default language mutation of SMS text for notifying customers from all countries.

2. I own an e-shop which has most customers from France but some orders come from Spain as well. A small amount of orders come from the rest of the world.

I will set my SMS modul like this:

  • Default language of SMS will be in English
  • I add France and fill in the SMS text in French
  • I add Spain and fill in the SMS text in Spanish

(ie. If you use only one order status to notify your customers via SMS, it is enough to fill in and activate just this event for all desired languague mutations.)

How will the module notify customers from the above mentioned countries?
SMS module can recognize the recipient´s country from his/her phone number and accordingly select the proper mutation. The SMS module will, in this case, work like this:
If a customer from USA creates an order, the module identifies the USA phone number. However, there is no language mutation for USA, it means that the default language is used. The SMS is sent in English.

If a customer from France creates an order, the module identifies the french phone number. There is a mutation for France, it means the module will send the SMS in French (the same applies for Spain).

Ie. If a customer from Germany creates an order, the module identifies the german phone number. There is no german mutation so the default mutation (English in this case) will be used.
